In the
succeeding ten years since its establishment, the
Sericulture Academy (the predecessor of the University)
had achieved brilliant success. Zeng Yun, the provincial
governor of Zhejiang, presented a memorial to the
royal court of the Qing Dynasty to convert it into
the Advanced Sericultural and Mulberry Academy. The
memorial was approved by the royal court (the original
document was kept in the First Historical Archive
of China). |
